Specialized Care for Complex Prostate Cancer

While Advanced Urology Centers of New York provides comprehensive urologic care across our many locations, the Urologic Cancer Center is a dedicated specialty program focused exclusively on providing highly specialized care for men diagnosed with aggressive, recurrent, or metastatic prostate cancer. Our mission is to provide every patient with the most effective, individualized care — combining the latest medical advances with a patient-centered approach.

Led by prostate cancer specialists Drs. Matthew Mene and Thomas Rechtschaffen, the Center serves as both a trusted referral resource for physicians and a critical support system for patients and families navigating complex diagnoses.

We focus on the full spectrum of advanced prostate cancer, including:

  • High-risk prostate cancer at diagnosis – Gleason score 9–10, locally advanced disease (T3), seminal vesicle involvement, pelvic lymph node metastases
  • Recurrent prostate cancer – Cancer that has returned after surgery or radiation
  • Metastatic prostate cancer – Disease that has spread beyond the prostate to other areas of the body
  • Treatment-resistant prostate cancer – When cancer no longer responds to initial therapy

We focus exclusively on advanced and aggressive forms of prostate cancer, ensuring that patients have access to:

  • Subspecialty Expertise – Care guided by a physician who specializes in complex prostate cancer cases.
  • Advanced Diagnostics – State-of-the-art imaging and genetic testing for precise staging and treatment planning.
  • Personalized Treatment Plans – Tailored therapy options that balance effectiveness with quality of life.
  • Multidisciplinary Care – Coordination with oncologists, radiation specialists, and other experts.
  • Comprehensive Treatment Options – Including hormone therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapies such as PARP inhibitors, and advanced radiation approaches like radioligand therapy, delivered in collaboration with expert radiation oncologists.
  • Access to Clinical Trials – Opportunities for eligible patients to receive emerging treatments.

Patients should be referred to the Advanced Urologic Cancer Clinic when their case involves:
