MIU Adds Third Outpatient Interventional Radiology (IR) Lab, Welcomes New Provider
At Michigan Institute of Urology (MIU), we continually strive to bring the most advanced, minimally invasive care directly to our patients. We are proud to announce the expansion of our collaboration with IR Centers® and Prostate Centers USA® with the opening of our third outpatient interventional radiology (IR) lab in Southeast Michigan.
This new expansion allows us to increase our procedural capacity, significantly reduce wait times, and offer more patients access to state-of-the-art, image-guided alternatives to traditional surgery. Our expanded IR program provides highly effective treatments for conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), hemorrhoidal disease, and pelvic venous disorders, all within a convenient, outpatient setting.
As part of this exciting growth, we are thrilled to welcome Jeremy Handel, MD, to the MIU family. Dr. Handel is a board-certified interventional radiologist bringing over two decades of specialized experience to our team. Having completed his interventional radiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, he is widely recognized across the region for his exceptional work in embolization and treating complex pelvic venous conditions. His expertise will be an invaluable asset to our patients.
Thomas Lanni Jr., FACHE, Michigan Market CEO of Michigan Institute of Urology, perfectly captured the significance of this milestone for our practice:
“Expanding to a third interventional radiology lab is a meaningful step in how we serve Southeast Michigan. It reflects MIU’s long-standing commitment to bringing the most advanced, least invasive care to our patients — close to home and in a setting built around them. Welcoming a physician of Dr. Handel’s caliber, and deepening our work with IR Centers, strengthens our ability to deliver on that commitment for the patients and communities who count on us.”
We look forward to this new chapter and remain dedicated to delivering the high-quality, compassionate, and technologically advanced care that our communities depend on.
